A HUGE thank you to staff and parents who turned up to a damp and wet school on Saturday to kickstart our big school clean up.
Despite the rain, it was a really successful day which would not have been possible without our volunteers willing to give up part of their precious weekend. During the day we painted the fence between the FSU and playground (although the rain got the better of this task towards the end!), erected a new bench and storage cupboard for the key stage one and two playground, sorted loads of rubbish into a skip and the hedge in the front playground was trimmed back.
As well as all this, the FSU was swept and jet washed and new areas were designed; the most impressive being the new mud kitchen area but we now also have a designated gardening area using tyres as the planters. A big thank you goes to Julian Tranter (for not only spending all day putting together the storage shed but also donating all the paint for the fence), Ray and Ali Walters, Steve Mountain, Chris Simmons and Lee Schreckengaust, Midge and Jack Pearson, Izzy, Vikki Finlay, Sam and Clive Hatwell, Ben Kendall and Zoe Wells for all working so hard on the day and to Charlotte Beckstein and Angela Burt for enabling this to happen.
We would also like to thank The Francis family for turning up on Emily’s birthday to donate some sand! We are hopeful of another day to continue with the work that needs doing around the school so watch this space for more opportunities to help. In the meantime, any further donations of play sand are very welcome!
